Lockdown Blueberry pie
I didn't grow up with blueberry pie
I was not a big fan of blueberries growing up, and the best southern pies are custard-based. So I didn't grow up with blueberry pie as something I ate. My stepdad in New Hampshire makes them every spring and summer, and I got into them from that.
I should have gone with a lattice top, in retrospect, and my attempt to brown the upper shell at the end went awry. Still, the worst blueberry pie is still better than most non-blueberry pie foods.
And ice cream covers a host of sins.
Fruits in Paris are a lot more season-sensitive than in the US, in terms of what you can find in stores. I assume Spain or somewhere must have a year-round blueberry season, because they're the only berries you can always find even in the dead of winter.
There are some raspberries available, but I wasn't feeling a raspberry pie. Maybe strawberry and rhubarb next time.
